Quaker parrots have many different names. They are commonly known as Quaker Parakeets, Monk Parrots, and Monk parakeets. These birds originated from South America including parts of Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay. Today, you can Quaker parrots in many regions of the United States including Florida and Chicago. Quaker parrots aren't the largest birds, measuring on average 11 inches long and weighing about 100 grams. The normal life span of these parrots is about 20 to 30 years, making them perfect pets to always have around.

What is actually surprising to hear is that Quaker parrots are illegal in some states. The reason for this is because Quakers pose a potential threat to agriculture and local species. So before you go out and buy a Quaker please make sure you are legally allowed to.

The personalities of Quaker parrots are actually very vocal and bright. Most owners never report a depressed Quaker but there are some that have reported very loud Quaker parrots. If bird chirping and vocalization is a problem for you, then Quaker parrots may not be the right birds for you. Quakers are known to be very friendly and talkative keeping you entertained for hours and making great companions.
