Your bird's home: Parrot Cages

If you've just bought a parrot, then you should be looking at parrot cages. A parrot's home is probably the most important thing for a parrot. When buying parrot cages there are certain things you should consider.

First, if your parrot is a newborn or very young, find out about how large it can become when it's full grown. This is the size you should consider when purchasing parrot cages. Most parrots are very active birds and require large cages. Usually the largest parrot cages you can find make the best homes because the birds have more room to move around and be active. Parrots, especially Amazon Parrots, are very susceptible to obesity if not fed correctly and not given the appropriate amount of room to exercise in.

Next, you should consider the type of latch on the door of the cage. Parrots are intelligent birds and many have been reported their birds find out a way to unlatch the doors and escape the cage. We are looking for large parrot cages so that they won't have to fly around outside in your homes. If the latches are too easy to undo, this defeats the entire purpose of buying parrot cages.

Lastly, you may want to consider a cage with a section within the cage where the parrot can retreat to if it feels shy or scared. This space can also help your parrot become accustomed to his new surroundings by giving him his own space where he can feel more comfortable until he is ready to come out.

If these three things are considered when buying parrot cages, you shouldn't have too many problems or regrets. Parrots have feelings as well, and you and I both know that having a nice home always makes us feel good.
