There are many different types of parrot breeders: commercial, educational, hobbyists, and conservationists. All of these parrot breeders have a viable reason to breed and by doing so, whether consciously or not, contribute to sustaining the parrot population. It is a fact that many species are nearing extinction, but with parrot breeders, future generations won't have to worry about only being able to see parrots in photographs.

If you have an urge to contribute to the conservation of parrots by breeding your own, stop for a moment. Breeding parrots isn't as easy as many may think and requires experience. Parrot breeders need to know how to react to illnesses and treat them right away. Some tips for beginning parrot breeders is to always keep an eye on the temperature of the chicks' surroundings and make sure it stays at about 85 degrees Fahrenheit. Baby parrots are not able to keep their own bodies warm so you need to constantly monitor them and keep them warm in a brooding zone.

Parrot breeding can be an interesting hobby, but make sure you are experienced and responsible enough to handle it. A great place to get advice and help is your local parrot club or organization. These places contain pools of information and people ready to help you out and there's nothing better than to receive advice from someone who has experience successfully breeding parrots.
