The Senegal parrot has 3 sub-species which can easily be separated and identified. The first is the Sengalus species which has a yellow belly and originates from southern Mauritania, southern Mali to Guinea and from the Island of Los. The next of the Senegal parrot sub-species is the Versteri species which has a red belly and comes from the Ivory Coast region, Ghana, and Nigeria. The last sub-species is the Mesotypus and this bird has an orange belly and can be found in northern Nigeria, northern Cameroon, and southwestern Chad. ]]>
